Members will be pleased to know that the old shoe cleaning machine will be replaced with a new machine. A order has been placed and a shipping schedule of early May will see the new shoe cleaner installed. The medium term plan is to re house this machine in a newly built area in the bank on the left hand side, back of the 15th hole.

A great site for all Pike Hills Golf Club members. We have been able to get out this week and cut the full course fairways and they are drying very well. Its been a very poor 4 months of weather and we have finally seen the back of it.

The 6th hole as you have never seen it before!, this week whilst we caught a break in the weather we have been able to lay the entire fairway from the front of the green to the bunkers, roughly about 6o yards in length by 30yards. bunkers are nearly there, turf has been layed round the lips and we await riveting of them. We still expect play on the hole on the new green to be in play by early May, weather permitting.
Average score is expected to go up by at least 0.5 shots on the whole, a real challenge for players.

Pitch Marks

Pitch Mark Repairing
If you repair a pitch mark badly it can actually do a lot more harm than if you had left it alone, so it's essential you know how to do it correctly

Make sure you can repair a pitch mark correctly
If you repair a pitch mark badly it can actually do a lot more harm than if you had left it alone, so it’s essential you know how to do it correctly.
It’s not just for the sake of the greens either, there is nothing more infuriating for a golfer than to see a perfect putt knocked off line, especially through no fault of their own.
But it is alarming how many golfers seemingly neglect to repair a pitch mark, don’t know how to repair a pitch mark in the correct way, or perhaps think they are not allowed to because of the Rules of Golf.
As you can see below, the end product of a badly repaired pitch mark is an ugly brown scar left on the green that not only looks awful, but that also affects the roll of yours and other peoples’ putts.

A badly repaired pitch mark

Successfully repaired pitch marks however, can heal within twice the time it takes for a half-hearted attempt, and look more like the images below.
